At Green Botanics, it’s the question we’re asked most often? Is CBD legal in the UK?
It’s understandable. It’s easy to find out about all the benefits that CBD can bring you, but because it comes from cannabis, and sounds a bit like cannabis, there’s always that lurking doubt. You want to enjoy your CBD without expecting a knock at the door or a tap on your shoulder.
So, if you’re asking that question, here’s the answer you need.
YES! CBD IS LEGAL IN THE UK!
CBD has been legal to buy and sell in the UK since October 2016, when Government advisors wrote that CBD brings ‘restoring, correcting or modifying’ results when taken by people.
However, it’s only legal to buy and sell as a food supplement, not a medicine. That’s why at Green Botanics, we sell CBD oil you can add to your food, CBD Gummy Bears you can eat neat, and much more.
We also have a legal disclaimer on our site telling you that our CBD should not be used as a medicine.
Also in 2016, CBD was classed as a medicine, so it can be prescribed by a doctor. We aren’t concerned with that area at Green Botanics, however.
Why is CBD legal?
That’s a good question. Cannabis is illegal. CBD comes from cannabis, so why is that OK?
The reason is that cannabis is made up of CBD and another compound, THC. THC is the psychoactive part of cannabis, the part that gets you ‘high’ if you take it. There’s no high with CBD, that’s why it’s considered to be harmless, and why it’s legal.
Now CBD is legal, and people everywhere are feeling its benefits, the big boys are starting to take notice.
Who knows what the future will bring, but you can be safe in the knowledge that as a customer of Green Botanics, you were there at the start of it all!
So, worry no more. If you love CBD and all the beneficial effects it brings you, you’re on the right side of the law. Just sit back, relax and enjoy.
