CBD now legal for UFC fighters
At Green Botanics, we love to share stories about the greater acceptance of CBD, and the Green Botanics lifestyle. The latest tale comes from the UFC, the world’s leading mixed martial arts (MMA) promoter, as well as the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).
Last year, WADA decided to remove cannabidiol (or CBD as we prefer) from their list of banned substances. This rule change came into force on New Year’s Day 2018. From now on, drugs testers will not be looking for evidence of CBD use, or punishing those athletes who show traces of it in their drugs tests.
This is especially relevant in UFC…
After a fight with martial arts megastar Conor McGregor, UFC fighter Nate Diaz openly vaped CBD at a press conference.
‘It helps with the healing process and inflammation.’ He said. ‘Get this before and after the fight, in training, to make your life a better place.’
Diaz was risking a suspension by vaping CBD, but he believed so much in the benefits that it was worth the risk, I suppose. Now he can vape CBD as much as he likes, even in competition. Great news as Green Botanics sell premium CBD Vape UK / CBD e-Liquid UK.
There are numerous accounts of the restorative powers of CBD, that it relieves muscle pain and inflammation, all without the psychoactive side-effects associated with marijuana, which, of course, is still banned by WADA.
The UFC is currently producing an update to the fighters’ handbook, offering guidance about CBD, as well as THC, the psychoactive component of marijuana. In many states in the US, where the UFC is most popular, marijuana is legal. However, it will still get you a ban from your sport if it shows up in your urine or blood.
Will the growing use of CBD lead to better sporting performance? Time will tell.
Maybe CBD oil or CBD Vape can help aid your recovery process after sporting endurance events, talk to us at Green Botanics. We’d be happy to help.
